Hi all! We are so excited to announce that the latest issue of One Thimble (affiliate link) contains our newest pattern, the Trillium Maxi & Tunic. This is a great year round pattern and it is loaded with options!
The design of the Trillium started with the bodice. I really wanted to create a pattern that would be ideal for color blocking. I have a fetish for fabrics and have a hard time picking just one! I like to mix and match florals & stripes, colors, and textures. The pieced bodice also makes for a great scrap buster!
If you have one print that you adore however, there is an option for the simple bodice as well. Both bodice options have a button placket and lining which complete the look.
When you are making your Trillium you will notice that the front bodice is wider than the back bodice. This is on purpose. I wanted the triangles of the pieced bodice to visually appear to flow into the back of the tunic rather than ending abruptly at a traditional side seam. This way, when you look at the Trillium from the front, there is not a visual break in the design lines of the pieced bodice.
The back of the Trillium Tunic is a solid piece with a high/low hem. The hem will fall below the bum, which makes the tunic ideal to wear with skinny jeans or leggings, such as our Fawn Leggings. The tunic is meant to have a lose comfortable fit that allows your child to play with ease.
The Trillium can also be a Maxi Dress! It is a great option for when you want to make the pattern over and over again. It also dresses up the pattern a bit. My daughter wears her Trillium Maxi Dress to Church at least once a month!
There are three sleeve lengths to choose from; Sleeveless, Cap, or 3/4 length. You can also dress it up with a bit of ruching.
The Trillium is beautiful in fabrics such as lawn, voile, and other light weight cottons. We are thrilled with this new pattern and we would love to see how yours turns out! When you post on social media use the hashtags #petitestitchery and #trillium so that we can enjoy your creations!
