Sew Along Summary:
Day 1 was about getting fabric, patterns and tools ready. Fabrics were selected, washed and pressed. Patterns were printed and taped together, then cut out to the right size required for our little models.
On Day 2 we spent some time looking at Sapphire. Got the fabric cut out and selected the right sewing machine needle for the job. Some tips were given about needles and how to finish off hems by using different tools. You’ll want to check out our facebook group for those tips!
On Day 3 we finished up Sapphire with embroidery embelishments and all. Its so fun and easy to add a little special touch to a garment. This time around it was embroidery, but you can also experiment with freezer paper and paint, or rubber stamping on fabric. Try it out and I’m sure you’ll please your little fashionistas.
We started Day 4 by cutting out the pieces needed for Poppy. We looked on how to use dress making tracing paper and the wheel to mark out the pleats. I honestly think its the best way to get the markings correct so the pleats come out perfect in every way. Once again you can find more information on these tools in our facebook group.
Day 5 was mostly spent at the ironing board. The secret to sucess with this skirt is perfect pleats. We attached the waistband after forming the pleats and then finished off the hem, again pressing the hem and pleats so that everything is crisp.
JubeJube felt she looked like a little fairy and insisted I do her hair up. She ran to her closet and selected the shoes she felt were a perfect match to her new Poppy Skirt and Sapphire Top and off to the park we went.
