I love Sparrow!! I’ve made dozens of them. But, if your children are anything like mine, they do not appreciate the dozens of tops and tunics in the same style. The beauty of PDF patterns is the ability to MAKE IT MINE.
Today we’re going to show you a way to adapt Sparrow for this new look. Oh my! This is precious!!
Check out this darling top!! No collar, no back button closure, just a pull on scoop neck top! Easy peasy!
Step 1: This bodice uses only the front bodice piece. Cut 2 front bodice pieces of the outer fabric and 2 front bodice pieces for the lining. Skip steps 3, 4, and 10 in the Sparrow pattern.
Step 2: Sew the corresponding shoulder seams together (Step 11).
Step 3: Skip Steps 12 – 16 and do this instead. Match up the shoulder seams and stitch around the entire neckline. Be sure to clip your neckline and you can understitch the entire neckline if you’d like, just like we describe in the pattern (see Step 17).
Follow the rest of the instructions and you’ve got a gorgeous adaption in half the time! Stay tuned for more super cute modifications in our Make it Mine series!!
Now let’s get ready for some HOLIDAY PARTIES!!
