Lynette Pocket Line DrawingLynette includes a basic rectangular patch pocket, but we thought it would be cute if there were some fun shaped pockets to customize your dress even more!

The Lynette Pocket Add-On: What's Included

There are four bonus pockets included in this free add-on pack. Choose from the tulip pocket to mirror the points of Lynette's bodice, rounded for a simple but sweet touch, heart for cutesy vibes, or pumpkin for seasonal fun!

Play with topstitching before adding your pockets to the skirt to add even more detail and texture to the finished look. The Pumpkin includes additional stitch lines to trace and topstitch to really bring it to life, but you can add more detail to any of them!

Let's Get Started

The instructions below detail how to sew and add the pockets from the add-on to your Lynette dress. You should complete these steps before constructing your skirt, per the instructions in the original Lynette tutorial.

For the print file, use the layout below when printing and assembling your pattern.

Note: The pockets for the Grow+ sizes are the same size as the regular Grow, so there are no separate pieces for the Grow+.

Print Layout

1. (Optional) Place the interfacing to the wrong side of the pocket main piece according to the interfacing package instructions. Trace stitch guides as well for easy to follow seam allowance.

2. Place the pocket main and lining pieces right sides together. Pin or clip. Sew in place using a 3/8” seam allowance and the stitch guide from the pattern piece. Leave a 1”-1.5” opening at the bottom or side for turning.

3. Trim the seam allowance making sure to clip into the points and curves and trim any corners.

4.Turn right sides out and press well.

Note: You do not need to close the opening, you will be closing it when you stitch it in place.

5. Using the guide from the Lynette skirt pattern piece, place the pockets on the front skirt. Use pins or wash away hem tape to keep it in place. topstitch the the bottom and sides of the pocket leaving the top open. At the top of the stitches sew a small bartack horizontally.

If you want to add even more detail to your Lynette pockets you can topstitch them before adding them to the skirt!

  1. Mark your topstitch guides from the pattern piece onto your finished pocket.
  2. Topstitch along the guides, then add the pocket as directed in the steps above!

Extra Details

You can really crank the cuteness on Lynette's pockets by adding even more decoration.

Add embroidery to your Lynette pocket pieces before sewing them together, or sandwich decorative trim in the seam allowance. You can also add decorative stitches around the edges of the completed pockets or add trim like rick-rack or ribbon.
